1856 – Carl Ekman

The arrival of Carl Ekman heralded a new golden age for Finspong. He modernised the works and introduced new production methods. Finspong became the first rolling mill in Sweden and started manufacturing railway rails. He also felt he had a big responsibility for security and growth in the society that developed. A hospital, school and old people’s home were built for the population and Ekman also saw to it that the community had a dairy and slaughterhouse.
