1627 – Louis De Geer

Louis De Geer came to Sweden and became de Besche’s partner at Finspong. The wide-ranging efforts de Geer made on behalf of Sweden in the following years lead to his ennoblement in 1641. That same year he purchased the Finspong Works along with its land and forestry assets. He built a blast furnace and recruited Walloons from his native country to boost production. The results: 827 cannons, 8,000 iron bars, 8,577 suits of armour and over 10,000 cannon balls.
